Lithium trace testing for anaerobic digester assessments.
United Utilities Water Limited seeks a supplier to conduct non-intrusive tank capacity and sediment assessments of anaerobic digesters using lithium chloride as a trace element. The work is required to comply with the Environmental Permitting (England & Wales) Regulations 2016 implementing the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED), which mandates such assessments every 5 years. The supplier must develop a methodology to determine the effective volume of anaerobic digesters by dosing lithium chloride and measuring its concentration over time. The results should establish mixing efficiency, hydraulic retention time, short-circuiting or dead zones, and sediment/grit accumulation, presented in a report.
