Transpower seeks non-transmission solutions for up to 20 MW in Bay of Plenty.
Transpower New Zealand Limited is seeking proposals for non-transmission solutions to manage growing electricity demand in the Western Bay of Plenty. The RFP covers firm, reliable demand-side or supply-side options such as demand response, battery storage, embedded generation, or similar technologies. The solutions must deliver up to 20 MW at Tauranga by winter 2030 and/or 10 MW at Te Matai by winter 2031. This is part of Transpower's approved programme to defer or replace major transmission investment. Proposals must be commercially viable and submitted via GETS by 30 June 2026.
