Bus Contract Renewal for Units 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10

Waikato Regional Council seeks serious and credible public transport operators for new bus contracts covering Units 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10. Contracts run for 9 years with a 2-year extension option; Units 1 & 2 start 1 July 2028, Units 3, 4, 5 & 10 start 1 November 2027. The council aims for full decarbonisation of the bus fleet by 2035, adopting a market-led approach to zero-emission bus (ZEB) transition with no pre-determined diesel vs electric split. A respondent briefing via MS Teams is scheduled for 15 April 2026. This is a high-value, long-term public transport service contract.
